Whole-system duct and dryer vent check with before-and-after photos - you see exactly what came out of your vents
That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.
Franchise FAQ
Kestrel Air Duct Cleaning is part of the Kingswell family of companies, founded in 2004. Every location is independently owned and operated under the same four promises: a written price before work starts, a real arrival window, a clean job site, and a written guarantee. Here are straight answers to the questions we hear most from people considering a Kestrel franchise.
Common Questions
Do I need air duct cleaning experience to own a Kestrel franchise?
No. Most of our owners come from outside the trade. What matters more is whether you can run a business honestly, show up on time, and treat a customer’s home with respect. We train you on the technical work, the equipment, and the Kingswell Way. If you’ve ever managed people or run a service route, that experience transfers. If you haven’t, we start from the beginning and you’ll still know the job cold before your first van rolls.
What is the total investment range for a Kestrel franchise?
The total investment for a Kestrel Air Duct Cleaning location runs from roughly $80,000 to $150,000 depending on your market, vehicle configuration, and equipment package. That range includes the franchise fee, the Rotobrush rotary brush system, Nikro negative-pressure unit, Abatement Technologies HEPA filtration, a wrapped service van, initial inventory, training, and working capital for your first months. You’ll receive a written breakdown of every cost before you commit to anything. No line item gets added later because we forgot to mention it.
Is financing available for the franchise fee or startup costs?
Kestrel does not lend money directly, and we won’t pretend otherwise. What we do is walk you through the financing options most of our owners use, including SBA-backed loans and equipment financing, and we’ll connect you with lenders who have funded Kestrel locations before. A lender who already understands our business model can move faster. Your personal capital requirements, credit history, and the size of the market you’re targeting all factor into what you’ll qualify for. We’ll be straight with you about what the numbers need to look like before you spend weeks on an application.
Do I get a protected territory or exclusivity?
Yes. Each Kestrel location operates within a defined service territory sized to give you enough homes to build a real business. Your agreement spells out your boundaries and the protections that come with them. The point of exclusivity isn’t to box you in, it’s to make sure no two Kestrel owners are competing for the same driveway. We’d rather have one owner doing a job they’re proud of than two owners fighting over the same ZIP codes.
How long does training take?
Initial training runs two weeks, with a portion in the classroom and a portion in real homes with real equipment. You’ll learn how to run the Rotobrush and Nikro systems safely, how to scope a job and give a written price before work begins, and how to leave a home cleaner than you found it. We also cover the business side: scheduling, pricing, hiring, and what to do when a customer isn’t home at the agreed window. Training doesn’t stop after two weeks either. You’ll have ongoing support for as long as you own the location.
What are the ongoing fees and royalties?
Kestrel charges a monthly royalty based on a percentage of gross sales, plus a small contribution to a shared marketing fund. We’ll give you the exact figures early in the process, in writing, so you can model your numbers before you decide. You won’t discover a “processing fee” or a “technology charge” after you’ve signed. The royalty covers what it should: brand support, training updates, vendor relationships, and the systems that keep every Kestrel location working to the same standard. The Kingswell Guarantee has meaning because every location follows the same playbook. The royalty is what pays for that playbook.
How long does it take to open after I sign?
Most owners are running jobs within 90 to 120 days of signing their franchise agreement. That window covers training, equipment delivery, van wrapping, insurance setup, and the first wave of local marketing. Some markets open faster. Slow permitting or vehicle upfitting can push it a few weeks longer. We’ll give you a timeline before you sign and update it weekly once you’re in the pipeline. You’ll know what’s happening at every step.
What kind of support does Kestrel provide after opening?
You’ll have a dedicated franchise support contact who knows your name and your market, and you can reach a live person for operational questions when you need one. We help with hiring, pricing guidance, customer issues, and the equipment questions that come up in year one and year five alike. The brand materials, the guarantee language, and the customer service standards are all built for you. What we can’t do is run your business for you, and we won’t pretend we will. You’re the owner. We’re the support behind you.
What kind of person makes a good Kestrel franchise owner?
The best owners share a few traits. They show up. They keep their word. They don’t mind getting their hands dirty for the first year or two, and they understand that a five-star reputation is built one home at a time. You don’t need to be a salesperson. You do need to be the kind of person who can hand a customer a written price, look them in the eye, and stand behind the work. If the idea of coming back at no charge because a job wasn’t done right bothers you, this isn’t the right fit. If that’s exactly how you think business should work, we should talk.
How do I take the next step?
Call us. Not a web form that sits in some inbox for a week, not a chatbot. Call (469) 972-3151 and you’ll get a live person who can answer your questions and send you the initial franchise information. From there, we’ll walk you through the discovery process at your pace. If it’s a fit, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting into before you write a check. If it’s not, we’ll tell you that too. Either way, you’ll have straight answers.
Still Have Questions?
The best way to get real answers is to pick up the phone. Call (469) 972-3151 and talk to a live person about territories, investment, training, and what ownership actually looks like. If you’d rather start with a written introduction, submit the form below and we’ll respond within one business day.
